To deploy an automated desktop pool
1InViewAdministrator,clickDesktopsandPools,andclicktheInventorytab.
2IntheGlobaldesktopandpoolviewpane,makesurethattheDesktopsandPoolstabisselect edandclickAdd.
3WhentheAddDesktopwizardappears,selectAutomatedDesktopPoolandclickNext.
4 Selectthetype
ofdesktoppoolyouwanttocreateandclickNext.
Persistent—Desktopsareallocatedstaticallytomakesurethatusersconnecttothesamesystemeach
timetheylogin.Desktopassignmenttakesplacethefirsttimeeachuserconnects.
Nonpersistent—Desktopsareallocateddynamicallywhentheuserlogsinandarereturnedtothe
poolwhentheuserdisconnects.
5Fromthelistprovided,selectthevCenterServertobeusedbythisdesktopandclickNext.
6EntertheUniqueID,(optional)Displayname,and(optional)Description,andclick
Next.
TheuniqueIDisusedbyViewManagertoidentifythedesktoppoolandisthenamethattheusersees
whenloggingin.TheuniqueIDanddisplaynamecanbearbitrary,butifyoudonotspecifyadisplay
nametheuniqueIDisusedforboth.
7Configure
thedesktoppropertiesandclickNext.
IfyouareusingaWindowsVistavirtualmachine,youmustsetthepowerpolicytoEnsureVMisalways
poweredon.
8ConfigurethedesktopprovisioningpropertiesandclickNext.
9 Selectthetemplatetouseasthebaseimageforthedeploymentandclick
Next.
YouarepresentedonlywithtemplatesthatcontainadesktopoperatingsystemsupportedbyViewManager.
10 SelectthefolderwhereyouwantthisdesktoppooltoresidewithinvCenterandclickNext.
11 Selectahostoraclusteronwhichtorunthevirtualmachinesusedbythisdesktop
andclickNext.
12 SelectaresourcepoolinwhichtorunthevirtualmachinesusedbythisdesktopandclickNext.
13 SelectoneormoredatastoresonwhichtostorethedesktoppoolandclickNext.
14 Fromthefollowingoptions,selecthowyouwouldlikethedesktopscreatedfromtheguestsystemtobe
customized,andclickNext.
IfavCentercustomizationspecificationexists,youcanselectitfrom theUsethiscustomization
specificationlisttopreconfigurepropertiessuchaslicensing,domainattachm en t,andDHCPsettings.
Ifyouwanttomanuallyconfigurethedesktopsinthispoolaftertheyhavebeenprovisioned,orifno
customizationspecificationisdetected,selectNone ‐Customizationwillbedonemanually.
Ifyouwantthevirtualmachinetoremainpoweredoff,selectDonotpoweronvirtualmachines
aftercreation.
